PNC Foundation Awards Generous Grant to Hibiscus Children’s Center
Hibiscus Children’s Center is pleased to announce that the PNC Foundation awarded a $10,000 grant as part of the company’s philanthropic mission to form partnerships with community-based nonprofit organizations within the markets PNC serves in order to enhance educational opportunities for children.
This generous donation will help fund the Hibiscus Children’s Center Career Pathways to Independence Program. This program helps alleviate some of the stresses these youth face as they approach 18 and helps set the stage for lifelong success. This creative youth education program provides foster youth, ages 13 – 17 at the Hibiscus Village, with innovative support, structure, and guidance they need to receive a high school diploma or GED and to provide them the best possible future.
Additionally, youth participate in forward-thinking career exploration, testing and assessments related to career interests, self-esteem, and work related personality, pre-employment training, multiple internships in local businesses, mentoring, and weekly structured focus groups seminars on topics including completing college and job applications, resume writing, creating a budget and more to prepare foster youth for independence.
Hibiscus Children’s Center deeply appreciate the support of PNC Foundation to help change the lives of our teenagers who are in real need of guidance and mentoring for their future. PNC Foundation’s partnership with Hibiscus Children’s Center is a great asset to furthering our mission of taking care of abused, abandoned and neglected youth in our community.
