Vero Beach, FL – The Indian River Guild of Hibiscus Children’s Center presented another fabulous Annual Blue Ribbon Luncheon and Fashion Show on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Oak Harbor Country Club.  This signature Hibiscus event commemorates National Child Abuse Prevention Month and directly supports Hibiscus’ mission of saving the lives of abused youth.  This year’s theme, “Step Into Style”, was perfectly displayed as guests were welcomed with Champagne Mimosas surrounding a beautiful high-heeled shoe ice sculpture.  The luncheon was attended by 240 lovely ladies who perused the unique silent auction items and took a chance on the terrific raffle drawing prizes.  As the guests entered the dining room, they truly ‘stepped into style’ as the tables were adorned with spectacular ceramic heels filled with flowers atop a glitter shoe box!   What a fabulous affair to celebrate all the things that women love … shoes, fashion and glitter ….and most importantly, their love and concern for our youth.

Hibiscus Children’s Center was honored to have Mary Beth McDonald, former Vero Beach Mayor, as our event emcee and our guest speaker, award-winning author Aimee McPartlan-Hill.    Aimee shared her story that began in the foster care system and then as a social worker with a burning desire to help abused children.  Aimee, who writes as Aimee Taylor, gives a voice to the untold story of child abuse and those who dedicate their lives to working with abused children.

The stylish fashions were a highlight of the afternoon and presented by Cashmere Beach, Cooper & Co., Frances Brewster, J. McLaughlin, Pineapples, Sara Campbell Ltd., and Sassy Boutique.  Six husbands of committee members, wearing Vernon Scott attire, served as ambassadors.

All proceeds from the Blue Ribbon Luncheon and Fashion Show directly support abused youth living at the Hibiscus Village.   Hibiscus Children’s Center is deeply grateful to our sponsors, volunteers and all who attended this wonderful event.  For more information about our services and events, please contact us at (772) 299-6011, ext. 313 or visit us at HibiscusChildrensCenter.org.
